What can I say? It's that difficult 5th bit of blurb! The show starts with a response to accusations of easy listening (you know who you are!) from the likes of a thinly disguised Sonic Youth but then mellows to accomodate More Bad Times, a gem by Eds Redeeming Qualities. I've also dug up more vintage vinyl from The The and rifled through the back catalogue of a recording studio near Tunbridge Wells. We start the ball rolling this time with Peaches' excellent cover of Gay Bar, move swifly on to Teriyakis, a previous incarnation of half of the Harvey Girls, before travelling back in time for some vintage Wire. Theres other new(ish) stuff from Lake Holiday and from Snoozer (the latter being completely infectious and from an EP that I now have on order). Actually at the time of writing I have have stuff on mail order from Snoozer, The Harvey Girls and from the Teenbeat label - I wonder which parcel will arrive first? I've just realised that most of the newer bands featured on Cold Citrus are from the US. I'll try and redress the balance with something from the UK next time.

Pleased with the mix of music on this show and the chance to slip in tracks from two of my all time favourite albums, Burning Blue Soul by Matt Johnson (It'll always be by Matt Johnson and not by The The as far as I'm concerned) and Leaves Me Blind by the Underground Lovers. Both albums share a strung out pyschadelic quality and both are very much of their time and place, with 10 years and 11,000 miles separating them. Apart from that theres the usual mix of old and new and a very rare gem from a certain Polly Harvey, bringing back memories of my seeing her at the Islington Powerhaus way back in 1992. It's too much, I'm gonna' have to go and lie down.

On to show number two. Happier with this one in terms of the variety and number of tracks included, almost twice as many as in the first one. Slips into relative easy listening territory with Steely Dan but I won't apologise for this as its a good track with a good narrative. Also included is one of the few tracks that are perfect if you love the Smiths but have a problem with Morrissey. This show also includes a genuine learning moment as a musical connection, previously unknown to me, is revealed whilst making the recording. You too can listen and learn...

This is the first show I've put togther so due to a attack of nerves I decided to co host it with the text to voice marvel that is DJ Hawkins! Fortunately his 30 day free trial is up now making this your one and only chance to hear him. As for the music a few of the tracks are rather long but don't let that put you off. Every Home A Prison is the standout track for me, quite scary and very knowing since it was released in 1997. The best of the newer tracks in my opinion is Parking Lot by The Harvey Girls.
